Cold War pilot visits Alberta Aviation Museum

Royal Canadian Air Force Flight Lieutenant (Ret’d) GM, CD Robert “Bob” Morgan (left) met Major (Ret’d) Major Alex Tsang (right), President of the Edmonton United Services Institute, at the Alberta Aviation Museum.  They are standing beside a F-86 Sabre on display in the museum during a wine and cheese fundraiser on the evening of Tuesday, Sept. 15, 2015.  Several dozen invited guests gathered to learn about recent museum activities.

Flight Lieutenant (Ret’d) Morgan joined the RCAF in 1949 and served 36 years. He was awarded the George Medal for saving the life of a fellow pilot on July 21, 1955 from a F-86 that crashed and burned.  Learn more about his career from the plaque featured on this blog.

On Sunday, Sept. 20, 2015, Flight Lieutenant (Ret’d) Morgan will be one of eight RCAF veterans honoured by the City of Edmonton.   A street will be named after him in the Village of Griesbach, located in northwest Edmonton.  He will stand beside this plaque during a ceremony to officially open the RCAF Commemorative Park.

For details regarding the timing and location of the ceremony, refer to my blog post: “RCAF Commemorative Park opens Sept. 20, 2015”.  The event organizers hope you can attend to honour all the Air Force veterans who served Canada.  © 2015 Grant Cree photos.
